Gary A. Smith

Gary A. Smith, 70, of Oakbrook Terrace, passed away October 19, 2022.  Beloved son of Georgia “Corky” and the late Leonard; loving brother of the late Michael Smith; cherished uncle of Connie (Dan) Piszczek, Michelle (Scott) Alecksen and William (Shannon) Smith; proud great uncle of 9 and great, great uncle of 3.

Gary joined Elmhurst College in 1977 as an Adjunct Instructor. During this time, he also worked in business for over 30 years in numerous management positions ranging from applications development to infrastructure support for systems development methodologies and software development tools. Gary joined the Elmhurst College faculty as a full-time Lecturer and IT Program Director in 2013 and continued his interest in applications development and software through the development and teaching of numerous courses. He loved music of all kinds and played the clarinet and saxophone as a young man.  Gary also enjoyed playing poker.

A Memorial Visitation will be held on Monday, October 24, 2022, 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Humes Funeral Home, 320 W. Lake St., Addison.  Interment private.
