Wayne Alan Westman

January 15, 1956 — October 11, 2024

Wayne Alan Westman passed away peacefully Friday, Oct. 11, 2024 with family at his side.

Born in Chicago, IL, Wayne grew up in the Park Ridge and Des Plaines. After graduating from Main East High School, he earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology from Northeastern Illinois University. Wayne served as a firefighter/paramedic and was also part of the HAZMAT and Water Rescue Dive teams for the Addison Fire Protection District for 30 years before retiring. During that time he also started A.R.M.S. Radon Mitigation Services which he was busy with until the very end.

Wayne met Laura (Cook) in her late teens but didn’t ask her out until many years later at his sister Karen’s wedding. They were married in 1984 and have 4 beautiful daughters, 2 grandsons, and 1 granddaughter. 

In his free time Wayne enjoyed playing underwater hockey, camping with his family, teaching others, and working with his hands.

Grateful for having shared Wayne’s life are his daughters Shannon Westman, Michelle (Ted) Robinson, Rianne (Jack) Westing and Alyssa Westman. Cherished grandfather of Ariel, Lincoln, and Walker. Dearest brother of Karen Coleman, Sandy (Jeff) Zappia, the late Marcia Dycus, the late Greg (Sherrie) and the late Keith (Debbie) Westman. Fond brother-in-law of Vickie and Adrian Alvarez and Rick and Martina Cook. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his mother Carol Walsh.

Memorial Service Saturday, November 2, 2024, from 1-4 PM at Humes Funeral Home, 320 W. Lake St., Addison (2 Mi. W. of Rt 83, 2 Mi. E. of Rt. 53).
